What Is Fetch Rewards?
Fetch Rewards is a grocery cashback app. It was created in 2013 by Daniel Litvak, Tyler Kennedy, and Wes Schroll in Wisconsin. The founders wanted to save you money on groceries and it’s safe to say they’ve accomplished their goal. You can save money on brands, special offers, and SingleCare with Fetch Rewards and get paid to do something you’re going to do anyway — grocery shop!
Fetch Rewards has 18,000 reviews with a 4.3 rating on the Google Play store and on the ios App store and 48,000 reviews with a 4.8 rating on the Apple store.
Fetch Rewards has received $35 Million in funding from venture capital so far, and it doesn’t look like funding is slowing down.
How Does Fetch Rewards Work?
Step 1: Download the App And Sign Up
Sign up for Fetch Rewards for free and get a $2 signup bonus with code M3TCT or just by clicking through this link and downloading the app.
Step 2: Go Grocery Shopping
Fetch Rewards pays you when you buy certain brands. Currently, they have over 200 brands in the app. You can earn up to 2,000 points per purchase, depending on what items you buy. with each brand redemption. 1,000 Fetch Rewards points are worth $1.
One of the tricks I use is to get the 750 points ($.75) for submitting one receipt. They seem to have this as a special offer quite often, so I always try to get it. Ibotta offers a $.25 bonus for a receipt, so this option is better.
For example, one of my favorite snacks is Flaming Hot Cheetos. It’s nice to get cash back each time I purchase some Cheetos! My current favorite cereal is Special K berries, so it’s equally nice to get a small discount there as well.
Note that you don’t have to do anything in the app other than scan your receipt. You don’t need to pick certain rebates before you go in and purchase, the app just checks your receipt for you.
Step 3: Scan Your Receipt For Points!
You get 1 point for every $.10 of a brand’s product you purchase, which adds up! These are your Base Points.
Unlike Ibotta, which makes you tap each item you want to get cash back for before you buy it and scan the item’s barcode after you buy it, Fetch Rewards doesn’t make you do either of these things. You just scan your grocery receipt and get cash back without any extra work! Also, you can use Fetch Rewards to get cashback on receipts with any grocery store — unlike Ibotta, where you need to use chains it has preselected for you. You don’t need to take any surveys or watch any videos prior to getting your cash back.
Fetch Rewards doesn’t just accept grocery stores, you can upload receipts from the below even tangentially related to food:
- Convenience Stores
- Gas Stations
- Hardware stores
- Pet stores
- Wine/Liquor stores
- Warehouse stores (Costco, Sam’s Club, etc)
Fetch Rewards also has offers on specific products as well that are much higher paying. These are your Bonus Points. They’re generally new items that brands are willing to pay higher amounts of cashback on so you consider buying them and trying them!
Once you finish shopping, just take a picture of your receipt and wait for your cashback rewards. Fetch Rewards generally takes up to 48 hours to process your receipt and reward you your points. You’ll need to include the following info on your receipt:
- Name of Store
- Items on Receipt
- Price Total
Make sure that your receipt’s picture has clear text, is aligned straight, not wrinkled, etc.
You get up to 4 images per receipt, so make sure all the important info is in the picture! We’ve all had that 5 foot long CVS receipt, but know that only the first few inches are important! You don’t need to take a picture of the million coupons on the end.
Step 4: You’re Done! Get Your Points! Extra Tips:
Yay, now you get your Fetch Rewards Points!
Note that Fetch Rewards only takes up to 14 receipts in a week-long period. I suspect this is to avoid people gaming the scan any receipt bonus. You’ll need to scan your receipt within 14 days to get your cash back. Your points expire within 90 days, so make sure you cash out when you can!
If you think Fetch Rewards missed an item off of your receipt, you can manually click “add item” in the app to add it.
Currently, Fetch Rewards only works with stores in the US. You can stack receipts across grocery cashback apps. Check out these reviews for other grocery store cashback apps and bonuses:

Other Ways To Make Money With Fetch Rewards
SingleCare is a prescription service that saves you up to 80 percent on your prescription. You’ll get 5,000 points ($5) for using it for the first time and 1,000 points ($1) every time after.
You’ll get your own individualized SingleCare card and you just present it to your pharmacist when you get your prescription to save money and get Fetch Rewards for cashback. Points will be added within 24 hours of purchase.
Fetch Rewards just added the ability to get points if you buy things online. This might be useful if you’re using Fresh Direct or Amazon Grocery where you can order consumable products. You simply email the grocery receipt to Fetch Rewards on the same day you order and they can get you cashback manually.
How Do You Get Paid With Fetch Rewards?
Fetch Rewards pays by gift cards and Visa/Mastercard. The minimum for gift cards is $3 and the minimum for Visa/Mastercard is $10. You can also donate your rewards to charity if you’d like. Unfortunately, Fetch Rewards doesn’t offer PayPal at this time.
It’s only 3,000 points for a $3 gift card, but it costs 11,000 points for a $10 Visa/Mastercard gift card. Don’t worry, the $3 gift cards include Amazon, which is basically cash for how much people spend there anyway! There are over 100 gift cards you can choose from so even if you don’t like Amazon, I’m sure there’s something you’d like.
The gift card is sent to you almost immediately via email.
Here are a few of the gift cards that Fetch Rewards offers for its 3k points tier:
- Dunkin Donuts
Fetch Rewards offers 18 gift cards for the 3k level, but only 5 of them are for retail stores. The other 15 are for charities.
Don’t worry though, there are 89 retail gift cards for the next 5k level!
What Makes Fetch Rewards Unique?
We’ve reviewed a ton of grocery apps here, and we’re always trying to figure out what makes each app unique. In comparing Fetch Rewards to other grocery apps such as Ibotta, Checkout 51, and others, we noticed a few unique features:
- Being able to submit receipts from all grocery stores
- You don’t need to tap the product before purchasing
- No need to scan the bar code after purchasing
- Get 500-1,000 points for scanning any receipt
We’re not saying Fetch Rewards is the best grocery app overall. We’re just saying these are the pros for Fetch Rewards. Depending on which app offers the most money, that’s the grocery cashback app I use for that trip. You can also stack your receipts by scanning them into all the apps.
Fetch Rewards Giveaways And Sweepstakes
Fetch Rewards offers gift card giveaways and sweepstakes from time to time. You can enter with points, but we recommend against that since you probably won’t win given all the entries they get! Also, companies are legally required to offer a free way to enter, though in most cases it requires an envelope and stamp. The Starbucks For Life competition is one of the best sweepstakes since you can just enter online 100+ times for treats and prizes all the way up to free Starbucks For Life.
Fetch Rewards Referral Code Program
Once you sign up with Fetch Rewards, you can refer friends and family to get 2,000 extra points. Your friends and family will get 2,000 points as well, so it’s a win-win! Plus, your referral will now save more money.
There is no maximum amount of people you can refer, so feel free to make $2 for every person you refer.
Use our Fetch Rewards referral code for 2,000 bonus points when you sign up.
Fetch Rewards Tips And Tricks
Now that you’ve learned all about Fetch Rewards, here are a few tips and tricks we’ve picked up since we’ve begun using the app.
1. Don’t just buy a brand because you get cash back from it! Sometimes another brand or private label store item is cheaper.
2. Just go shopping as you normally do, and think of any cashback you get as a bonus. If a store private label brand is the same and cheaper, go for that! If you always buy that brand anyway, go for that! Don’t let a cashback app change your shopping habits, just go shopping as you normally do.
3. The higher paying cashback rewards are usually for specific products. Sometimes this means higher cashback amounts for newer products in the market. Brands paying you more cash back to buy a specific item is a form of advertising dollars spent.

Fetch Rewards Pros And Cons
Here’s a summary of the pros and cons of Fetch Rewards!
Fetch Rewards Pros
Unlike Ibotta, which requires you to pick out the offer before you purchase and sometimes watch an ad, as well as scan the barcode of the item after you purchase, Fetch Rewards does none of that and makes it much easier to get cashback for your groceries.
Fetch Rewards works on any store that sells food or drink, and now includes home improvement stores as well. Fetch Rewards is also the only app that allows you to get cash back from any store and any brand that is on their list.
Charity donations are available on Fetch Rewards, so if you want to give your earnings to charity, it makes it easy.
Fetch Rewards Cons
PayPal is king! Unfortunately, Fetch Rewards doesn’t offer PayPal. The next best options are Amazon gift cards and Visa/Mastercard, even though their redemptions aren’t the best.
